Enniskillen's busiest counted road, the A32 at Cherrymount, carried about 17,000 vehicles a day in 2024, and the town's southern bypass has still not been built. This guide covers Fermanagh's roads, local work in concrete and timber, the South West Acute Hospital and where a claim would be heard.
Start your free case reviewIn the Fermanagh and Omagh policing district, 5 people killed, 77 were seriously injured and 365 slightly injured on the roads in 2025, according to PSNI figures for 2025. A 2021 transport study by DfI and the council found that Fermanagh and Omagh had the highest rate of fatal and serious collisions in Northern Ireland, 36% above the average.
The A32 towards Irvinestown carried about 17,000 vehicles a day at Cherrymount in 2024, and the A34 Lisnaskea Road about 9,000 at Maguiresbridge. The £35m Enniskillen Southern Bypass would link the A4 Dublin Road and Sligo Road to ease congestion in the town centre. Work had not started by February 2026, when more than £6m of its funding was moved to other projects.

Yes, if your employer, or someone else at work, was at fault. Work around Enniskillen includes precast concrete manufacturing, which makes pipes, manhole rings and cattle slats, along with quarrying, sawmilling and timber treatment.
Precast concrete units are heavy, and moving them means loads lifted overhead and the risk of crush injuries. The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 govern that work, and a breach can support a claim. Fermanagh is also farming country, and HSENI recorded 3 of Northern Ireland's 19 work-related deaths in 2025/26 in farming.

Most claims settle without a court hearing. If yours goes to court, claims worth up to £30,000 are currently heard in the County Court for the Western division, which covers the Fermanagh and Omagh council area. Larger claims go to the High Court at the Royal Courts of Justice in Belfast.
About a mile. The South West Acute Hospital on the Irvinestown Road has a 24-hour emergency department and treats the most critically ill and major trauma patients from a large area of the south-west. Check current waiting times on nidirect.
Hospital records are held by the Western Health and Social Care Trust. With your permission, we request them for you, and in most cases the Trust provides them free of charge.
No, but you can. Our Derry office, at 26-28 Bishop Street, is about 50 miles from Enniskillen, around an hour and 20 minutes by car, and our Belfast office is around 20 minutes further. Most claims can also be handled by phone, email or video.
In the country where the crash happened. If that was the Republic, the claim is made there against the driver's insurer, usually after an application to the Injuries Resolution Board, and the time limit is normally two years from the accident. Paul Kearney is qualified on both sides of the border, and our Republic practice, Kearney Law, takes these claims through kearneylaw.ie.
Here in Northern Ireland, against the driver's insurer, which deals with UK claims through a representative in this country. Take a photo of the registration plate at the scene. The Motor Insurers' Bureau can use it to find the insurer, and in some cases acts as the representative itself.
Yes, if the farmer you worked for, or a contractor or visitor, was at fault. A farm is a workplace like any other, and Northern Ireland's regulations on machinery, lifting and work at height apply to it. Write down what happened and who saw it while it is fresh, and see a doctor even if the injury seems minor.
You usually have three years from the date of an accident in Northern Ireland, or from when you first knew you were injured, if that is later. For a child, the three years start on their 18th birthday. Accidents in the Republic usually have a shorter, two-year limit.
No. There are no upfront fees. If your claim succeeds, the other side pays your legal costs and you keep 100% of your compensation. If it doesn't, our legal insurance covers the costs. Read how funding works.
