It's when care for a gynaecological condition falls below the standard a competent doctor or nurse would provide, and you're harmed as a result. That could be a missed diagnosis, a surgical error, or treatment carried out without your informed consent.

In Northern Ireland, you usually have three years from the date of the negligence, or from when you first knew you had been harmed by it, if that is later. It's best to get advice early, while the evidence is fresh.
