If someone else caused your injury on a Lisburn road or at work, you can usually claim. The M1 at Hillhall Road carried about 58,000 vehicles a day in 2024. This guide covers those roads, local work, Lagan Valley Hospital and where a Lisburn claim would be heard.
Start your free case reviewIn the Lisburn and Castlereagh City policing district, 2 people killed, 102 were seriously injured and 581 slightly injured on the roads in 2025, according to PSNI figures for 2025. The M1 links Lisburn with Belfast, and in 2024 it carried about 58,000 vehicles a day at Hillhall Road. The A3 Moira Road carried about 11,000, according to Department for Infrastructure counts.
On the A1 from Hillsborough to Loughbrickland, DfI's A1 junctions scheme would add flyovers, close every gap in the central reservation and fit a continuous safety barrier. DfI says the scheme has been delayed by the court judgment on the A5. If another driver caused your crash, the claim is made against their insurer. Read how car and road accident claims work.
Yes, if your employer, or someone else at work, was at fault. Work in Lisburn includes soft drinks manufacturing, warehousing and logistics, and the making of steel and timber doors.
The risks include forklift trucks and moving loads in warehouses, and lifting heavy stock and doors by hand. The Manual Handling Operations Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1992 set rules on lifting and carrying at work, and a breach can support a claim.

Most claims settle without a court hearing. If yours goes to court, claims worth up to £30,000 are currently heard in the County Court. Lisburn has its own courthouse on Railway Street, but civil claims from the area are usually listed at Armagh Courthouse on The Mall.
Larger claims go to the High Court at the Royal Courts of Justice in Belfast. Paul Kearney, who leads the firm, is a solicitor advocate and former barrister.
Lagan Valley Hospital in Lisburn has an urgent care centre, not a 24-hour emergency department. It opens on weekdays only, and you should phone before going. The nearest 24-hour emergency department is at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, about 9 miles away. Check current waiting times on nidirect.
Lagan Valley's records are held by the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, and the Royal Victoria's by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. With your permission, we request them from whichever Trust treated you, as a record made soon after the accident is useful evidence.
No, but you can. Our Belfast office at 7 Donegall Square West, BT1 6JH, is about 10 miles from Lisburn, around 20 minutes by car on the M1 outside rush hour. Most claims can also be handled by phone, email or video.
Usually the insurer of the driver who hit you. Get their name, insurer and registration at the scene, and photograph the damage to both cars. If pain in your neck or back comes on later, see your GP so the injury is recorded.
Yes, if the company running the site, or its staff, caused the accident, for example with a forklift or an unsafe loading bay. The claim may then be against that company rather than your own employer. Report the accident to both, and note the names of anyone who saw it.
It depends on who was at fault. Turning across a dual carriageway means judging fast oncoming traffic, so fault is often disputed, and dashcam footage, photos and witness details make a real difference. If the other driver was speeding or not paying attention, the claim is made against their insurer.
You usually have three years from the date of the accident, or from when you first knew you were injured, if that is later. For a child, the three years start on their 18th birthday. It is still best to get advice early, while evidence such as CCTV and witness details is available.
