Cyclist seriously injured in a road collision

£250,000 settlement for an injured cyclist, Northern Ireland

We recently secured a £250,000 settlement for a cyclist who suffered serious injuries in a road traffic collision.

The collision caused multiple significant injuries, including fractures to the spine, pelvis, wrist and hand. Some of the injuries needed surgery, followed by a long period of rehabilitation and treatment.

We worked closely with medical, rehabilitation and financial experts to make sure the full impact of the injuries and losses was properly evidenced. Because the injuries were serious and permanent, we commissioned specialist actuarial and forensic accountancy evidence to assess our client's future financial losses over the rest of their working life. This included future loss of earnings, pension loss and the effect of being permanently disadvantaged in the job market.

Pension loss is often underestimated. Even a modest drop in earnings can add up to a substantial loss over a working life.

The case concluded within nine and a half months of our instruction, with a £250,000 settlement that recognises the effect the collision had on our client's life.

If you were injured on your bike because of another road user, our cycling accident claims team can help.

Every case is different and depends on its own facts, so a past result is not a guide to what another claim may be worth.
